UN calls on Israel to abandon construction plans

The UN has urged Israel on Wednesday to waive its plans for new settlements in the West Bank, reaffirming that these initiatives are illegal and threaten the peace process with the Palestinians.
"We urge the Israeli government to respond to international calls to abandon these projects," said Secretary General of the UN Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman to the Security Council. (AFP)
