A US State Department official denied in a conversation with the London-based newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat that the US has information on former Syrian foreign ministry spokesman, Jihad Maqdisi. It was reported on Tuesday that Maqdisi deserted Syria at the beginning of the month, was smuggled by the US and is now a CIA informant.
The US official stressed that "the important thing is that the regime supporters are dwindling one after the other." He estimated that there will be other deserters and resignations amongst those associated with the Syrian president. (Roi Kais)
