Balad MK to be tried for Syrian escapade
The Nazareth District Court ruled that the removal of Balad MK Said Naffaa's immunity was in order, and that he can be committed to a criminal trial. Naffaa is accused of visiting an enemy state and making contact with an external agent alongside Druze clergy and senior officials.
In 2007, Naffaa joined a delegation to Syria and while there, met with the country's National Front secretary-general. Naffaa has claimed in the past, that this was a religious visit, but the court ruling stated that the trip wasn't supposed to consist of a "meeting with terrorists in an enemy state." (Ahiya Raved)
