The Nazareth District Court ruled that the removal of Balad MK Said Naffaa's immunity was in order, and that he can be committed to a criminal trial. Naffaa is accused of visiting an enemy state and making contact with an external agent alongside Druze clergy and senior officials.
In 2007, Naffaa joined a delegation to Syria and while there, met with the country's National Front secretary-general. Naffaa has claimed in the past, that this was a religious visit, but the court ruling stated that the trip wasn't supposed to consist of a "meeting with terrorists in an enemy state."
