IDF jeep overturns near Jericho; soldier severely hurt

Cleared for publication: An IDF soldier was severely injured and three others sustained light wounds on Wednesday when a military jeep patrolling north of Jericho
overturned.

The soldier who sustained severe head injuries in the accident, which occurred at around 12:30 pm, was airlifted to Jerusalem 'sHadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The soldier is connected to a ventilator.
Magen David Adom ambulances evacuated the other soldiers to hospitals in the capital.
According to an initial investigation, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
  • The IDF is looking into why the driver lost control of the army vehicle and is checking whether he was driving at a high speed along the narrow, winding road, which is located near the Jewish settlement of Yitav.
About six months ago Private Dor Jan was killed and three other soldiers were injured when an IDF jeep flipped over during operation activity along the border fence separating Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights.
