According to the Turkish embassy in Venezuela, Syrian President Bashar Assad requested political asylum in Venezuela for him and his family, the Turkish newspaper Zaman reported.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry told Turkish diplomats that Assad delivered a message to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, asking him to harbor the Syrian first family. (Ynet)
