The Tel Aviv Police
allegedly concealed the horrific rape of an elderly woman, which took place in the vicinity of the city's Central Bus Depot,
from the public, Ynet learned Sunday.
According to available details, the women, in her early 80s, was admitted to the Edith Wolfson Medical Center in Holon in serious condition after she was sexually assaulted.
A police source described the attack as "brutal."
The police usually alerts the public to such cases. "They didn't want a public panic on their hands, that why they preferred to keep it quiet," an officer with the Tel Aviv District Police said.
The identity of the victims of sexual assault in Israel is protected by law, but comprehensive gag orders barring the report of an incident altogether are rare.
