Svetlana Pshenichnikov, the mother of Andre Pshenichnikov, the 24-year-old detained in Egypt since Friday, said that she sent her son to France because his is a peace activist. She additionally said that her son returned a month ago and made plans to meet friends in Cairo.

"He tried to cross the border but the police arrested him, claiming he attempted to cross illegally. Eventually he managed to pass and called me from the Egyptian side, informing me he had been arrested by Taba police and that he was being placed in jail," she reported. (Gilad Morag)
