EU to host international Mali meeting Feb. 5

The European Union will host an international meeting on Feb. 5 to organize support and aid to the Malian government.

France's military intervention to stop the advance of the Islamist militants in Mali has forced both European and African contributors to speed up a long-planned, UN-backed stabilization effort for the troubled country. The EU has decided to help train Mali's weak army, but wants to leave African forces to be in the lead. (AP)
