Hatnua Chairwoman Tzipi Livni spoke to supporters Tuesday night and thanked them for their efforts on behalf of the party.

The party, formed a mere eight weeks ago, has been able to secure 7-8 Knesset seats, according to exit polls.

"We've all seen the polls. We deserved more, but we still have something to smile about," she said.

"Eight weeks ago we embarked on a new path. I couldn’t see the country headed down the path it was going. I've returned (to politics) to stay."

Hatnua, she said, will use its time in the 19th Knesset to bolster the Center-Left bloc. "Now it's all up to us and our ability to work with our political rivals.

"We have to put these rivalries aside. Forget the campaign and the mutual slandering," she said. "We have to think of the future.

"We will complete the mission we have taken upon ourselves – to make Israel a better country."
