Clinton recommends Kerry as her successor

During a hearing at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recommended that Democratic Senator John Kerry succeed her as the US' top diplomat.

Kerry, who chairs the committee, was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as the next secretary of state. He is expected to sail through the confirmation process and could start his new job early next month. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
