MK Tibi to UEFA: Send observers to Beitar game

Published: 01.27.13, 20:10 / Israel News

United Arab List-Ta'al MK Ahmed Tibi sent a letter to UEFA President Michel Platini requesting the organization send observers to the National Cup game between Beitar Jerusalem FC and Maccabi Umm al-Fahm FC, scheduled to take place in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

According to the letter, the presence of observers will help "quell racist slurs by some of Beitar's fans, including insults targeting the Prophet Muhammad and the Muslim community at large." The Beitar Jerusalem FC fans are infamous for their hawkish and at times racist views towards Arabs. (Hassan Shaalan)
