Foreign Ministry officials are enraged by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's intention to offer some high-ranking Likud members ambassador positions to compensate for the expected shortage of portfolios in the next government.
The ministry's employees union said in a statement that "the Israeli Foreign Service isn't the political appointments' trash. The appointments degrade the Foreign Service and its employees. There have been cases in the past when politicians appointed through irrelevant considerations caused diplomatic damage and embarrassment worldwide." (Atilla Somfalvi)
