Cairo: Abbas thanks Ahmadinejad for supporting PA's UN bid
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Cairo at the end of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation conference and said after the meeting "I thank Iran for its support of the Palestinian move to attain non-member observer state status in the UN."
Abbas' spokesman Nabil Abu Rdeneh said that the Palestinians hope that US President Barack Obama's expected visit will mark "the beginning of a new American policy; leading to a Palestinian state." (Roi Kais and AFP)
