Gal-On: Will support peace, social justice from opposition
Meretz Chairwomen Zahava Gal-On met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the government's compound in Tel Aviv. Afterwards she announced that she had reaffirmed earlier promises to sit in the opposition, but urged Netanyahu to form a peace-oriented coalition that would accept the 2002 Saudi peace initiative supported by the Arab League, saying he should be "the first prime minister to adopt the initiative... which is still on the table."

"Meretz will sit in the opposition, but it will not oppose peace or a process indended to promote social justice," she said. (Roi Mendel)
