The Interior Ministry's Southern District Committee approved the full outline of the Tel Aviv-Eilat railroad, 350 km in length. The approval followed the government's decision in 2012 that Eilat must be connected with central Israel via railroad.
The outline was approved despite former Finance Ministry Director Ezra Sadan's objection, commissioned by environmental organizations. (Tomer Hadar)
