The Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement and Exceptional Contribution to the Nation was awarded posthumously to former Ariel Mayor Ron Nachman, who died January.
The committee noted: "Ron Nachamn considered the settlement and establishment of Israel the highest of values, causing Ariel to be declared a city, Samaria's capital, and serving that city as mayor until he died." In addition, Israeli Music researcher Eliyahu Hacohen also received the lifetime achievement prize. (Shahar Chai)
