Being a high-profile official, Gantz is subject to the protection of the State's Personnel Security Unit's agents, who both secure his home and accompany him at all times.

The unit also secures other high ranking officers according to changing security and threat assessments.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that, "For obvious reasons, it is impossible to shed light on the vehicle's role on the incident. As in every traffic accident in the IDF a Military Police investigation has been launched."
