A bipartisan group of senators is pushing a resolution saying that if Israel attacks Iran in self-defense, the United States will assist its Mideast ally.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez and Republican Lindsey Graham are chief sponsors of the measure, which specifies the US would provide military, diplomatic and economic support to Israel. They said Thursday that the resolution is a clear message to Iran that the US will take all necessary steps to ensure it does not acquire a nuclear weapon. (AP)
