US lawmakers push for tougher N. Korea sanctions
Lawmakers are pushing for tougher US financial restrictions on North Korea even as the UN Security Council moves closer to a new resolution tightening international sanctions in response to Pyongyang's latest nuclear test.
UN diplomats said late Monday that the US has reached agreement with China on a draft resolution that will be presented to the council on Tuesday. The agreement follows three weeks of deliberations on how to respond to North Korea's third atomic test. (AP)
