The month of February saw a deficit of NIS 4.3 billion ($1.15 billion) in the country's budget. The deficit stems mainly from high income tax returns. Last month, the country returned NIS 2.2 billion ($59 million) to citizens after the submission of tax reports last year.
In light of the high returns, there was a 4.8% decline in the State's real income from taxes. Government spending decreased by 3.5% this month compared with the same time last year. (Avital Lahav)
