8 UN troops abandon position in Golan, picked up by IDF

Published: 03.08.13, 11:41 / Israel News

Eight UN peacekeepers stationed in the buffer zone separating Israel and Syria abandoned a position in the southern Golan Heights, not far from the village of Jamlah, where 21 Filipino troops were seized by Syrian rebels.

The soldiers, who were ordered by their commanders to leave the post, were greeted by an IDF force at one of the border crossings and transferred to the UN's Ein Zivanit base, near the Quneitra Crossing. (Yoav Zitun)
