A protestor was killed during clashes between police forces and protesters in Tahrir square. The protests broke out in the wake of an Egyptian court's decision to uphold death sentences handed down against 21 people for taking part in a deadly soccer riot and acquitting seven police officers for their alleged role in the violence. The acquittal of the police officers prompted the wave of anger and protests.
Earlier Saturday, another protestor was reportedly killed by asphyxiation after inhaling large quantities of tear-gas fired by police forces during clashes in Cairo's main square. (News agencies)
