Assad congratulates Pope Francis

Syrian President Bashar Assad sent his regards to the new Pope Francis, Syrian news agency SANA reported. In the letter the Syrian president wrote to the new pope, Assad stated the Vatican's international role in "promoting friendships between people." (Roi Kais)
