Abbas to Obama: We ask for state within 1967 borders

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said during a joint press conference with United States President Barack Obama in the Mukataa in Ramallah that "The Palestinian people which welcomes you asks for freedom and peace and hopes it can lead a natural life on Palestinian lands with the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital."

Abbas added that "We are convinced that peace requires political courage. Peace cannot be achieved through violence, occupation and settlements." (Elior Levy)
