A rebel leader, whose fighters seized the capital of the Central African Republic over the weekend, took to the airwaves to make his first declaration late Monday, announcing he had dissolved the country's constitution and would rule by decree, according to excerpts from the broadcast carried on RFI.
Michel Djotodia, one of the leaders of the Seleka rebel coalition, said he plans to stay in power for the next three years, the length of time left in the term of the president he and his soldiers overthrew. (AP)
