UN: Syria, rebels must ensure UN safety in Golan

The UN Security Council is calling on the Syrian government and rebels to ensure the safety and freedom of movement of the UN peacekeeping force that has monitored a cease-fire line between Israel and Syria for nearly four decades.

The council expressed "grave concern" Wednesday at the presence of both Syrian army and opposition fighters in the area of separation between Israel and Syria and at violations of a disengagement agreement. (AP)
