Report: Carolyn Kennedy to be nominated US envoy to Japan

Caroline Kennedy, daughter of John F. Kennedy, is expected to be nominated US ambassador to Japan, but the nomination is not yet finalized, ABC News reported on Monday.

Kennedy, 55, is an attorney who stumped for president Barack Obama during both of his campaigns. She had been considered a serious contender for Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat in 2009, when Clinton was picked to serve as secretary of state. Kennedy eventually took herself out of the running.
