According to the Wall Street Journal, senior officials from Israel, the US and Europe have said that in light of the scheduled June elections in Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has decided to restrain Iran's nuclear program to within the limits demanded by Israel and the West, at least for now, in a desire to avoid an international crisis during the elections.
According to the report, Khamenei is eager to replace President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with a leader more in sync with his positions, but without inspiring a repeat of the nationwide unrest that followed a 2009 vote. (Ynet)
