The Israeli Prison Service has called in backup forces to the Ketziot, Eshel, Ramon and Nafha prisons to deal with the riots that broke out in wake of the news of the death of Maysara Abu Hamdiya, a security prisoner.
Hamidiya, a Hamas member, passed away Tuesday morning at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba after losing the battle to cancer. He had previously been diagnosed as terminally ill. Security prisoners are currently banging on their cell doors and throwing objects. (Raanan Ben-Zur)
