Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer commented on the arrival of natural gas from the Tamar gas field and said: "It is important we quickly form a fund concentrating the profits from gas royalties and invest this money abroad, promising that the influx of money won't strengthen the Shekel, damaging Israel's exporting industry's competitiveness."
Speaking at a press conference marking the annual Bank of Israel Report, he added: "The gas is nature's gift. We cannot allow all of the profits to be enjoyed by the present generation; it must be persevered for future ones aswell." (Avital Lahav)
