Police arrest 50-year-old Galilee resident for alleged animal cruelty; dog dies despite treatment; 'Suspect said dog bothered him,' says police official

A 50-year-old man from a village in the western Galilee was arrested on Saturday for allegedly tying a dog to his car and then driving away, dragging the animal behind.
The critically wounded dog was found in a waste disposal site, but despite medical treatment died of its wounds.

  • Maalot 'spolice chief said: "The suspect said the dog bothered him so he decided to get rid of it.
"The dog was taken to a local veterinarian in critical condition but died from its wounds."
The Northern District Police stated: "We regard animal cruelty as a serious crime and we'll bring to justice anyone who practices it."
