Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel said he believes measures will be taken against draft dodgers even after the Knesset passeslegislation that will obligate the ultra-Orthodox to perform some sort of service for the country.

Speaking at the Ynet studio on Sunday, the minister from the Habayit Hayehudi party refused to refer to the expected measures as "sanctions," but said he would support measures that would financially hurt those who would refuse to obey the law, which will call for equal share of the national burden.
"As far as I'm concerned, these are not sanctions," Ariel told Ynet. "The State decided to support certain things. When people (who receive State funds) do not comply with the decisions of the government and Knesset, then the government is permitted to gradually reduce the support – this is reasonable.
"We must keep in mind that the government recognizes the 'Torato Emunato (Torah is his profession)' arrangement, and it allocates significant funds to students who pursue this track," he said.
