Peres at Memorial Day ceremony: Israel as precious as pain is deep

President Shimon Peres spoke at the Memorial Day service being held at the Kotel and said: "We will never forget those who allowed Israel to be great and what it is, those who during the last 65 years of the State existence protected it with their bodies, blood and spirit, protecting its borders and citizens. Israel is as precious to us as the pain is deep."
Turning to bereaved families he said: "The pain of the loss knows no boundaries. You, the parents, the spouses, the children and siblings- you are the real heroes of life." (Noam Dvir)
