Netanyahu on Syria: Israel to defend itself if need be

In an interview to the BBC network, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel has a right to prevent weapons from "falling into the wrong hands in Syria". According to him, a move like this is likely to alter the stability in the Middle East.

When asked if Israel will adopt a more aggressive approach to the fighting in Syria, Netanyahu answered: "We are not aggressive. We don't seek military confrontation, but we are prepared to defend ourselves if the need arises and I think people know that what I say is both measured and serious." (Ynet)
