Kerry: Syrian conflict may tear country apart

US State Secretary John Kerry said that the conflict in Syria might tear it apart to rival enclaves. Kerry added: "Everybody has now accepted a concern about extremist elements who have forced their way into this picture, and there is a desire by all parties to move those extremist elements to the side and to give support, I believe, to the Syrian opposition."
An international conference on the Syrian crisis will meet on Saturday in Turkey. Kerry expressed his hope that Russia will be helpful in future negotiations. (AFP)
