The Jerusalem City council has voted to adopt a resolution proposed by the city's naming committee to name a street after Prof. Yeshayahu Leibowitz, who was resident of the city until he passed away in 1994 at the age of 91.
Leibowitz was a polymath and one of Israel's most prominent public intellectuals since the State's founding. He was a prolific writer, the editor of the Encyclopaedia Hebraica (Hebrew Encyclopedia) and a professor at Jerusalem's Hebrew University were he lectured on fields ranging from biochemistry to philosophy of science.
