Russian FM: Iraqi scenario cannot be repeated in Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov referred to the suggestion made by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to send a team of inspectors to Syria to examine if chemical weapons were used there.
"The scenario which led to the invasion of Iraq based on the claim that searches were being conducted for chemical weapons, cannot repeat itself in Syria. Lavrov also said that this is not the way to bring an end to Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime. (AFP)
