Peres tells Pope he is pleased with Arab initiative
President Shimon Peres met with Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta and Pope Francis in Italy. Peres told the Pope of the Arab initiative: "It is good that they returned to a peace initiative now. It is very important that they reverted back to their support of a two-state solution. The prime minister said he wants negotiations. The earlier we do so, the better."
Peres spoke with Letta on the tightening of sanctions on Iran and clarified that the danger of chemical weapons in Syria hovers over Europe and not only over Israel. (Attila Somfalvi)
