A 38-year-old man who allegedly pretended to be a new immigrant in order to receive social benefits, was arrested by the Police’s Northern District Fraud Unit on Wednesday. The man is thought to have fled the country to Morocco two years ago, to escape paying taxes.
The man returned to the country one month ago under an assumed identity, pretending to be a new immigrant. Using this fictitious persona, the man applied for and received social benefits. The man has admitted to the actions and is being questioned by the Tax Authority. (Ahiya Raved)
