UN envoy to Syria: cooperation of US, Russia – encouraging step
UN envoy to Syria and the Arab League, Lakhdar Brahimi said that the agreement of the US and Russia to work together to push for a political solution in Syria is "the first encouraging step in a long time."
Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Secretary of State John Kerry met in Moscow. Kerry told Putin that the two countries share the same interests in regard to the situation in Syria. "The statements made in Moscow are a very important first step," Brahima added. (AFP)
