Report: Kerry updates Abbas on efforts to restart negotiations
US Secretary of State John Kerry updated Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the American initiative to renew negotiations with Israel, according to Arab media.
According to the reports, the initiative will include the transfer of security responsibility to the Palestinians in different areas of the West Bank. In addition, in the coming months, security responsibility will be handed over in the Palestinian towns of Ar-Ram, Anata, Azariah and Abu Dis, all near Jerusalem. There will also be an Arab consensus on the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. (Elior Levy)
