Abbas condemns arrest of Jerusalem Mufti, calls it provocation
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the arrest of the Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, and called on Israel to release him immediately.
Hussein was arrested this morning at his home in the eastern city of Jabel Mukaber on the suspicion of involvement in riots which took place on the Temple Mount on Tuesday. Abbas called the arrest a provocation that cries out for freedom of worship. (Elior Levy)
