State Comptroller: 75% of deaths from hospital infection preventable

About 75% of deaths caused by infection in hospitals are preventable, according to the annual State Comptroller report. Some 5,000 people die of infections each year, the report claimed.

The State Comptroller Joseph Shapira wrote the high fatality rate is due to poor implementation of hygiene regulation by hospital staffers, repeated use of disposable medical equipment, overcrowded hospital rooms and understaffed medical teams. (Dr. Itay Gal)
