Lapid, Eini agree: Pay increase to public sector postponed
Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Histadrut Labor Federation Chairman Ofer Eini have reached an agreement regarding the budget and are currently holding a joint press conference. According to the agreement, a 1% pay increase which was promised to public sector works which was suppose to come into effect in July will be postponed to 2015, with the exception of contract workers.
In addition, improved conditions promised to contract workers will come into effect in 2013 and will be enshrined in law. Moreover, the State will reduce the number of such workers. (Billie Frankel and Avital Lahav)
