The Committee of Labor and Welfare approved regulations issued by the Health Ministry stipulating that doctors, speech therapists and clinical criminologists seeking a license to practice in their profession, must prove that they have a basic knowledge of Hebrew.
Committee chairman MK Haim Katz (Likud) said, "Aliya to Israel is welcome, and I am aware of the language difficulties, but the interests of the patient comes first." (Itay Gal)
