The Shura Council, Egypt's temporary legislative body, demanded that Israeli Ambassador Yaakov Amitai be expelled from the country immediately and that the normalization of relations with Israel be halted.
An Egyptian minister said the government would pass on the request to President Mohamed Morsi. The Israeli ambassador was summoned a few days over what Cairo referred to as the "inappropriate treatment" of Egyptian diplomats in Jerusalem. (Roi Kais)
