WHO: Number of hospitals in Israel among lowest in world
None
A World Health Organization (WHO) report on the number of hospitals and hospital beds per population, ranks Israel in one of the lowest places in the world, alongside countries like Zambia, Congo and Ethiopia.
The report, covering the 194 members of the organization, states that there are 0.6 hospitals and 34 hospital beds in Israel for every 100,000 people. These figures are significantly lower than most Western countries. However, infant immunizations are among the highest in the world, at 98%. (Dr. Itay Gal)
