German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle who is visiting Israel, said to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, "Germany fully supports the initiative of the United States to hold direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians. We believe that the peace process in the Middle East and work on the two-state solution must begin now."
