The defense part of the Holyland trial opened in Tel Aviv's District Court with Hillel Cherney's testimony. Cherney, the Holyland project's entrepreneur, is accused of bribing senior officials in the Jerusalem municipality.
Cherney said that "there was no bribery in the Holyland project." Cherney nicknamed the deceased State witness Shmuel Dachner "the scheming witness," and added that what he did to people in his last years is unforgiveable. He also said that Dachner did not offer any bribes. (Naama Cohen Friedman)
