Sa'ar doubles arnona tax on 'ghost apartments'
None
Interior Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced during the cabinet meeting that he has a signed bill doubling the arnona (property tax) on residential apartments that stand unoccupied (the so-called "ghost" apartments). He added the papers were forwarded to Finance Minister Yair Lapid so as to complete the procedure.
The measure is aimed to encourage the renting out of unused apartments, which should increase availability of homes, thus lowering housing prices. (Hila Tsion)
